David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had a career in Law Enforcement my entire life. Military and then the Bureau of Prisons, I’ve always wanted to be in business for myself and I needed a career that would allow me to use my “Observation” skills. After speaking with my wife about it, we decided it would a great time to make a career move because we started adding to our family and the Bureau was not the safest place to work. I have been inspecting successfully for 13 years now and I enjoy my time with my family as it allows for me to make my own schedule.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When the “Market Meltdown” happened I was forced to go get another job because the inspections just stopped. I went to work for a Major Pest Control Company for 2 years and in that process, I became certified in Pest Control. This actually helped my company because now I was able to complete my own Wood Destroying Insect Reports. A real blessing in disguise.
Corner Stone Inspections – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
CornerStone is solely run by myself. We offer residential and commercial inspections, new construction phase inspections, Thermal Imaging, Home Energy Audit Reports, and WDO Inspections. We have been called to testify in court as an expert witness and we also train future inspectors.
We are known for our famous Video Reports. Something that we think eventually every inspector in Texas will add to their services. This has proven to be a POWERFUL negotiating tool for our customers… better than any still photo.
We are a Christian and veteran-owned company and we also donate a portion of our salary to various charities.
